BACKGROUND EVENING
On Thursday night 4 April art historian Manuel Klappe will confront Bonno van Doorn with art history, so that together they will try and find a place for him in it. It will be a visual comparison with predecessors, whether known or not known to the artist.
The evening starts at 20:00 and will take place in the exhibition 'OBVIOUSLY' in 1646.
The show is still on display until 13 April 2013

OBVIOUSLY
On 8 March 2013, 19:00 my solo show 'OBVIOUSLY' at 1646 in The Hague will open. Be very very welcome!!!
The show wil be on display until 13 April 2013
Opening hours are from Thursday to Saturday, from 13:00 till 17:00
1646 is filled with debris and traces of a whirlwind that Bonno van Doorn left behind.
With the eye of a magpie Bonno van Doorn introduces into this environment mundane objects and everyday materials which are often overlooked, as well as strange self-made ‘stuff’.
Some materials that occupy the room seem to have ended up here by accident, or appear to have casually come into existence as some sort of by-product. Others look like attempts at an object with a proper identity but that were never quite realised.
A painting has a particular nonchalance, appearing as though it has been made by chance, through testing a pen or a paint colour. Amongst all this are objects staged on a pedestal as proper art objects, yet they lose their familiarity in connection to their surroundings.
In the end everything escapes identification. Each item is a fragment, provisional, pointing elsewhere. Walking around this environment one encounters the constant surprise of a failed recognition.

During the Museumnight in Rotterdam, on Saturday the 10th of March, my videowork 'Pickle' will be shown at the Goethe-Institut Rotterdam.
In this 'one night' exhibition and performance Constant Dullaart, Antje Peters and Anne de Vries will refer to and draw from their automatic image memory for their artistic practice. It will be the first BYOB-night in Rotterdam. Bring Your Own Beamer was conceived and initiated by the Dutch artist Raphael Rozendaal. At the invitation of the three artists and curator Caroline von Courten a dozen artists present their work and flood the area with visual projections.

Ignite is run by locals, for locals. Fast-paced and merciless, Ignite evenings are fun, thought-provoking nights, full of fresh ideas and clever insights. As a part of my residency at the MeetFactory I will have a show in their gallery.
For this I invited Czech artist David Helán and Frank Koolen to participate as well. David Helán on his turn invited David Hrivnacky to take part.
In the show we will try to find a balance between things that happen by change, chaos, originality and the randomness, uselessness and beauty of daily life.
The opening will be on Thursday 8th September from 19:00.

APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION
This year, from August 22 untill 26, I will give a workshop and a lecture at the European Exchange Academy in Beelitz-Heilstätten, Germany.
The workshop and lecture will focus more on the process rather then the result. Idea’s are hanging in the air, but what do you do with them? Be open to the possiblities that emerge when accidents happen. Don’t be afraid to kill your darlings, or someone else’s. Get lost from the familiar, known and safe path. Let go of the urge to be in control and make things happen.

STUDIO >< STUDIO
At the moment I am working on the idea of making a studio in my studio at the MeetFactory in Prague. Something from this studio will be recreated in Amsterdam by someone else. This will be shown at the opening of KAFANA, a new art place in Amsterdam. Through a live connection between the two cities there will be a simultaneous and parallel exhibition.
This is still very much a work in progress and it will be an ongoing project during my residency at the MeetFactory.
You are very welcome on Thursday 21st July in my studio at the MeetFactory from 18:00 till 20:00 or KAFANA from 12:00 till 20:00.
The following artists will also show something in Amsterdam:

THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS ARE NOT THINGS
Especially for the projectspace of Zoete-Broodjes I will show new work that I've made together with my mother.
My mother has trouble naming things and finds it difficult to remember things because of dementia. While I try to let go of limiting thoughts in my working process. An important aspect in my work is the making and finding of things without definition, meaning or naming. Thinking becomes direct action. As it becomes increasingly difficult to communicate verbally with my mother I'll take her with me in an attempt to create something, or rather nothing.
Hereby we would like to welcome you on the opening of the exhibition on Friday 20th of May, from 20:00 till 22:00.
The exhibition runs untill the 17th of June 2011.

SALON D'AMSTERDAM
